Donation info:
http://www.escapecraft.net/store.php

You must be logged into the forums for this link to work, please make sure your forum name matches your minecraft player name. Details on changing your forum username to match can be found at http://www.escapecraft.net/phpBB3/viewt ... f=4&t=2217

We are changing up VIP and donations, giving you new perks for your donations. Note: All existing VIP will keep their VIP as long as they want, you purchased a lifetime VIP, so you keep that. The old $5 VIP is no longer available, all new donations will go towards one of the new options.

Why should I donate?

The first thing I want to make clear about donations is that they are not mandatory to enjoy Escapecraft. Escapecraft is, and will continue to be, a free-of-charge server. You should not have to pay to continue playing a game when you already own it.

You help Escapecraft to continue.
Running and maintaining a server is not by any means cheap. We have some rather beastly hardware that cost more than what I make in two months at my current job. One of the reasons we moved over to a micro-subscription based donation system is because of the monthly costs that occur while operating the server. While these donations have yet to make a significant impact on the actual costs, every little bit helps and we are grateful for your generosity.

You donate to various charities.
I'm a firm believer in helping those who come under hard circumstances and helping them in any means we can. In that past we, as a community, have donated over $1,000 to charities and other groups. These groups include Child's Play, Japan Red Cross, and helped the Minecraft Documentary.

You get some nice perks.
We like to reward the players who give back to the community and we show our appreciation by giving them various perks in the server. These perks are not unbalanced in the way they give donors an unfair advantage while ingame, but rather offer various conveniences. Depending on which tier you choose, these perks can include:

• A colored name: Artisan, Nobility, Royalty.

• Use of the /home command: use /sethome to set your home, use /home to get back to that point, works from anywhere.

• Access to integrated circuits to make complex redstone circuits easier.

• Additional blocks for the /hat command -- more with each tier!

• Respawn at bed: simply click any bed and if you die, you will respawn to that bed, only 1 person per bed. (Currently disabled due to plugin issues)

• Access to the Skylands world.

• Reserved Slot: If the server is full, you still can log in, no more messages about the server being full for you.

Do you have what it takes? Veteran info!

Are you a dedicated player on the Escapia minecraft server? Do you have what it takes to become a veteran?

Veterans are people who have played at least 15 hours on our server. Veterans will be able to do the following:

-Use water buckets
-Use lava buckets
-Place rails/tracks
-Place and use redstone
-Use flint & steel
-Use tnt
-Access to Creative world

What does it take to become a veteran?:

1. You MUST have been playing actively for at least 15 hours, the stats plugin tracks how long you have been logged into the server.
2. You must not have any current warnings.
3. Using game glitches to duplicate items will result in permanent loss of Veteran status.
4. Griefing with any of these items will result in permanent ban.

One note for a change on veteran, we'll be doing away with the white color of veterans. All builder class (once you complete the tutorial) will be white from now on.

Veterans will still get the achievement, however, you will not get privileges until you are upgraded by any mod, if a mod isn't online, please send me a PM here on the forums.

Wait, so I get all these extra perks and I don't need to pay monthly?
Also, will I need to pay monthly now for my kit, or not?
Oh hey, I have a signature now! 26/07/11

No, what you paid for, you have. To get the new perks, you will have to donate accordingly on this. I was just trying to stress that you don't lose anything, existing VIP stay as they are. Sames goes for any kits you already have.

What if we just want the colored name? >_> You said we could just donate one more time and get it (but that was like a month ago). :/

Yes, we discussed that afly, but we'd rather go to a micropayment system, we do have recurring costs for the server, so thats how we came to this decision. If you upgrade to artisan to get the colored name, after a month, it will revert back to existing settings unless you choose to subscribe again.

We'll also be offering auto subscription services in the future.

Hmm, okay. Since the Cuboid is a one-time cost and I get the orange name with that, I suppose you'll be receiving ten dollars for a Cuboid sometime today. :3

It probably is a better idea to do what you're doing, anyway.

Afly, that was a derp on my part, that should not have been part of a cuboid purchase and has been removed from the store. For that same cost, you can get VIP Artisan for 5 months :)

After getting used to my orange name, I got an idea.
What if people could donate for custom titles, as long as they were appropriate? I would gladly pay for a Guinea Pig title, and Deri said he'd pay for Lord. :3 I don't think it'd be much work, and hey, it's just more incentive for people to donate so we can keep playing. :)

EDIT: Also, I'm feeling pretty special being the only orange name. But once more [Artisan]s and [Noble]s and [Royal]s show up, I'm going to be sadface.jpg So, why not buy a custom title so I can feel special again? More money for wokka. See how it goes? :D

I will protest strongly against the buying of peerages. You need to be pretty classy first to be able to buy peerages.

So, how does this affect those few of us with Contributor status? Do we get the permanent Royalty package?

I'm sorry, Wokka. Wish I could donate, but not only that, but I'm short enough on cash as it is.

Edit: If there's any way I can help out on the server, apart from donating, just ask =]

Kaosu, I understand your feeling with this, You pay for a game, you expect to play for free. But let me twist your thinking on it a bit with two points. This game is cheap compared to many others, and the re-playability of that is astounding. Just calculate the hours you've played here, and divide that into the cost. Per hour, its very cheap (and gets cheaper), compare that to most games and its the cheapest you'll find probably.

My second point, the server costs are not finite, they are recurring, meaning that I pay a monthly fee for the server. We have a generous player base here, and lots of people have donated, some very generously, and we've also given out a lot of money. Between the Minecraft Documentary and the Japanese Red Cross, we donated almost $1000 USD, which is astounding for a small community. However, we still pay monthly fees for the server hosting, and while we aren't trying to make money with it, we are trying to recoup our costs.

We don't force anyone to pay, this server will stay a free to play server, but we will continue to find new VIP perks to entice people to pay.

Speaking of VIP perks, I made a suggestion about custom titles on the first page. :3 I think it'd do well, check it out.

You just like to think of ways to create more work for me...

Right now no, but possibly in the future when more things can be automated.

Yes, that's always been my intent.

But if you think about it, wouldn't that do well? People like to be different, I think the rush for Royalty was mostly for the purple color. More perks means more donations either way. :P

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. I do have a PayPal though, and I buy those Visa cards in $50 denominations to handle my internet transactions for however long it'll last. I'll look into my bank though.

Also, paypal bank transfers don't incur a fee a lot of the time, sometimes it does if its international. Its better on the people you are paying :)

What if, say youve bought the lowest one for 2 dollars a month and wanted royalty, would you be able to upgrade and just pay the extra 3 dollars a month ?

Sag, we could let you upgrade, but if so, your time wouldn't extend.

For instance, on may 2nd, you bought nobility, and then on may 5th, you bought the upgrade to get royalty, you would expire on june 2nd.

I don't mind doing this, but I want you to know upfront how it will be handled. If you want to upgrade, buy any kit (since those are $3) and send me a PM here on the forums stating what you want.

Also, for everyone, I talked with Sneaky and we'll get a year plan posted to the webpage soon with a small discount.
