A Different Type of Question Thread

Post by Sti_Jo_Lew » 03 Jan 2013, 03:50

So then, thought I'd make a thread where I ask the community different questions instead of the usual AMA. I'll be asking a bit more "serious" questions, so try to put some thought into your responses, mmkay? ;)

Alrighty, question 1!
If there was one feature you could have redone or added to Minecraft, what feature would that be?

Question 2!
What mod would you want implemented into vanilla Minecraft?

A complete rewrite of the Client and Server with Performance in mind. The current client/server is simply slow as hell.

modular server side modifications that can directly affect the client without a separate download on the clients side.

e.g. server has mo creatures but client doesnt. client logs in and BAM it can see and interact with the server side mod without a large.and fiddly separate download.

All of the above and more.

I'd like to see some other form of signage, as a minor thing. Signs are nice, but a piece of paper with text would be better. You could use a nail (made from iron) to nail a piece of paper to a sign or a door or anything wood, and when you right click, you're taken to a book-like interface. It'd be a great way to have descriptive text somewhere without a hundred million signs.

I'd like to see a mechanical system. You build a "motor" of some kind, which is just basically an axel. You could then tie that to a waterwheel, windmill, treadmill, etc. and it would spin a circular block. You could then use belts/pully systems to operate simple machines (Similar to the way tekkit worked, but more manually. IE insert logs, turned into planks, crafted into stairs, stored in chest) with no pipes or anything to lag it out.

I'd like to see wheels for carts. You could drag a cart behind you and it would operate similar to a storage cart, but wouldn't have to be on rails. That would also require a special "slant" block, so that you could pull the cart up a single block...similar to the way rails work now. It would also slow the player down.

As for redoing a feature, I'd like to see a redo of redstone. I know there's a redstone update, but I'm not talking about that. As of now redstone is very bulky and cumbersome. I'd like to see something like the redpower mod, where you can make bundled cables. It makes no sense that powder on the ground should take up an entire block. Also, while we're at it, make the transfer of power make more sense. I always get my machines messed up because some block is transferring power diagonally and three blocks away somehow, and it requires a redesign. I love the concept of creating electrical switches (and, or, etc), but in order to make anything complex, you require almost an entire world (search youtube for minecraft calculator, or minecraft computer to see what I mean). It's awesome, but it should be able to be done much smaller and more reliably.

Proper trains- by which I mean one person can tow other people at speeds greater than those achievable with a regular cart, basically ways to make lovely trains, stations and things like that- buffers, clock blocks (for station clocks), all sorts of things like that- proper points too :D
...I like trains basically

-Guybrush Threepwood
"I'm the pizza delivery dude! The dude with the food!"

I want proper trains too. With proper carriages and suchlike. Being able to build proper sized ships that work would be nice too, rather than just building them to look pretty.

I would like to see more passive animals in the standard game like fish, birds, deer and such that would liven up the world a bit.
Orange and white, but not quite right.

Super OP weaponry and armor as well as a nice, golden tiara and/or crown to signify my succession as the true King of PvP.

Or, maybe just redstone that isn't so complicated. Either or.

Is that the one with the handsaw? If so, I want that. I get that handsaw, and I will have nothing but joy.

nononononononononono,

Redpower tubes are extremely irritating to set up properly, despite the fact they are more efficient as opposed to Buildcraft tubing. Besides, redpower doesn't have macerators, or nuclear generators, or HV solar panels, or ANYTHING that can provide a sense of amusement, personally anyways.

Redpowertubes are easy to use and are soooo much more derp-resistent then Buildcraft pipes.

I don't know if I would like tekkit implemented or not. It gives the option to play vanilla, but you can play the tekkit aspects as well. The one thing I don't like is those dang item copying machines. Ruined tekkit for me.

I would definitely not add the entire technic pack/ftb, it's too far from original Minecraft. Redpower though... yeah that'd be nice.
