I look at your supposed amazing guy and give you true awesomeness
Re: This guy is AMAZING at guitar!
I don't know if I'd call him "amazing". He's alright, but if you took away the backing music what you're left with is pretty basic. Mydrox's examples on the other hand: Wow.

This guy is better .-.
Re: This guy is AMAZING at guitar!
I don't know much about guitars, but it looks like he's just repeating the same thing with his right hand and doing simple movements with his left.

Okay, so yeah, the guy in the OP is essentially repeating the same riff (but being able to play it in the first place is impressive in itself). He's not "that great".
Drox, both of those are amazing. Playing acoustic guitar like the first guy did is a very hard skill to get down, and the innovation in the second video was awesome.
Milo, both awesome too.
And Fuzz, fastest picker doesn't equal fastest guitar player. That guy's pretty overrated in my opinion.

Re: This guy is AMAZING at guitar!
Not to mention its not about who is the best... in my post I said he a another great music player which is to say there is room for other great players as well. =3
Going around and posting "This is the better player" just seems silly to me. Music is in the eye of the beholder... or I guess I should say ear of the beholder. it will always be different to everyone.

Average. These guys are amazing at guitar.
Edit: Shit, I forgot Knopfler.
P.S. Not to put you down or anything, but once you can play this in it's entirety, then I'll acknowledge you as a good guitarist. I can, and just by learning it, I progressed miles in my ability. Also, my mum knows Dire Straits well enough to get us free tickets to their gigs =P

Well Milo, I think we've turned this into a "showcase your taste in music, whose is better?" kind of thread.
Kaosu, you have great taste in my opinion. All of those are very skilled players, but Zeppelin is not average.. ._.
Here's a cover of a Metallica rendition by a fingerstyle guitarist that I've always admired, but never done any research on, name's Tomi Paldanius. I think he died a few years back..
He did a great version of Classical Gas too but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

However, I feel that a lot of people have done Zep's songs better than Zep, for example, I give you Rodrigo Y Gabriela.

Re: This guy is AMAZING at guitar!
I heard that cover a while back and loved it - however, it's a different style entirely.
Jimmy Page showcased talent across the entire spectrum of guitar. If he wanted to play an entirely fingerstyle version of Stairway to Heaven, he sure as hell could've (well he still can, not dead yet ). I'm not putting down Rodriga y Gabriela though; they're amazing in their own sense.
Other than Stairway to Heaven, I've never seen a cover of a Led Zeppelin song that I've liked. It's probably because few people nowadays have heard anything other than Stairway to Heaven - I bet most couldn't tell me which albums it was featured on.

Led Zeppelin IV. It was the third album I ever owned, the first and second, being By The way, and Dark Side Of The Moon respectively.aflycon wrote:I bet most couldn't tell me which albums it was featured on.

Well technically that album didn't have a name - it was also referred to as ZoSo and Four Sticks. (;KaosuHamoni wrote:Led Zeppelin IV. It was also found on The Song Remains the Same (soundtrack from the movie).
Not sure about this one, but it may have also been on either Early Days I or II (the ones with them all on the moon, dressed as astronauts). That one was only released on CD though, so eh.
