Escapian Olympics!

Post by random980 » 04 Apr 2012, 03:23

Hurrah the thread is finally up! :D
All Empires, Kingdoms and Communities of old, you have been invited to the first ever, in Escapian history, Olympics.
Thanks to Rock Beefchest the event will be held in the Event Map, Probably closer to the actual London Olympics this year. It shall be hosted by myself, Random980, SMWasder and with help from XxGhOsTxReCoNxX and the USSR. (If more mods(+) would like to help host, please ask!)
Some invitations were sent a while back to certain collectives of people.
Confirmed groups:
Spoiler! :
  • USSR:Volstag9, Byroe, Random980, RobipodSupreme, Dominikvl9965
    DSSR/Draconax: Iron_fang, Arogon, Sag185

    Kangaroo Industries: SirrusSamiyaza, Nomzor99, Aeroeng15

Pending groups:
Spoiler! :
  • Leprosyville
    RSTP
    Solake
The system is much like the actual Olympics, different people participate in different events from one team, the only time EVERYONE will be participating at once will be in the 'All-in' PvP event :P The team at the end of the Olympics with the most points (corresponding to gold/silver/bronze)
These are the current planned events!
Spoiler! :

-Hurdles
-Obstacle course
-Parkour course
-Cross country
-Minefeild run

Stadia
-Spleef
-Player V Mob
-Player V Player (tournament)
-Team V Team (All in)
-Minecart jousting

Water*
-Obstacle swim
-Diving
-Boat race

Archery*
Labyrinth/Maze (Thank you LS13!)
Speed Dig*
Small Build

Combinations
-Tri(or more)-athelon
(Events with '*' next to them are combination compatible events.)
-If you are a leader of an old, big or recognizable Empire/Kingdom/Community/Group/Book club in Escapia, and are interested in having said organisation join the Olympics, leave a post in this thread showing your interest!

-If you are a member of a participating group, leave a comment saying which group you would like to be apart of!(People can NOT join multiple teams) If the kingdom you are apart of is not mentioned, leave a comment asking for an invite to be sent to the empire of your choosing!

-If none of the above really applies to you, band together with your friends and form your own team!
May the odds be ever in your Book club's favour!
(people with a (?) next to their name are unconfirmed team members)

Would also like to mention if ANYONE has event ideas, even if they are ludicrous, share them with us! If you are capable/have an idea on how to build the right requirements for an event, please share to! (Or PM me if you feel its necessary)

Would your joviality increase if they were included into the teams?
Also is this 1 team or 2? And i need at least 1 person saying they will participate for said team/s.

So my understanding is you will participate on behalf of vault 88/fort itl, remember you can not participate for more multiple teams (you can change before it all starts) and mod powers WILL be a DQ if caught in use during events. Also can i shorten the name to Fort 88 or Vault Itl?

Vault Itl sounds better IMO.

Branchscape is interested in engaging in these olympics for certain. May we have different teams per event?

Also: I'm assuming since this is the first one and is being held by the USSR, it will be a USSR town but it would be cool to do more than one of these eventually, rotating between the main towns of the teams each time a new one is held-- withthe stadium being constructed anew each time, much like in the actual olympics.

*Just an idea: if a stadium is to be constructed, it would be cool if we could put advertisements/banners for towns on the sides of it.

Hmmm, youve given me an idea, build an official (and mutual to all) Athlete village that has all stadiums and stuff next to it. Finding a spot is the hard bit and it has to be easily accessible (near spawn or train line). Now who has/knows a spot and can help donate materials?
Yes there are/can be different teams/person per event (all representing the team that entered the Olympics) Its the same set up as the normal Olympics. Which means not all the team will be playing at once in one event (except for the huge pvp event)
advertisements/banners on the sides is an AWESOME idea

-Updated event list, added speed digging, Big Build, Boat race and removed swimming.
Swimming, running/walking races, long jump and high jump WILL NOT BE EVENTS because player movements for these events are the exact same, meaning no/little skill is required and draws are certain.

Changed name of thread to Escapian Olympics! rather than just Olympics!

If you need me to help host I'm available. Also, considering I have houses pretty much all over the place, I could take part for most teams if they're short of participants.

Awesome :D, ill add you to the main post SMW. Should also mention, are you free during some 'Aussie unfriendly' times? Because i dont want people to miss out on events if they are all held while Australia is awake.
Well i said people cant join multiple teams, but if you are going to be a standard fill-in i guess some exceptions can be made.
Mattybcd wrote:Can I be an announcer? Like be up in a box and commentate?
hmm, maybe. You will be joining SMW (if he wants to) and myself in commentating. Maybe you can be a fill-in if one of us are actually participating. Also if you are going to commentate you will need to be on vent and have a loud clear voice and use correct spelling/punctuation while using in-game chat. I will get back to you on it :)

Still working on the name and storyline. What I have so far is you are coming to help some explorers at some ruins they found in an oasis, but they are all gone. You get stuck in the oasis, enter the ruins, and must find your way out.

Couldnt you have diving as an accurate drop into a 1block pool? if they even scrape the edges they will die?

I think i should explain diving. It will be 1 of 3 options
Elimination style event. People will dive from a small series of set heights into smaller and more challenging locations. Last man alive wins (possible 3 deaths each)
OR people have 3 tries per jump from set heights into set pools, making the jump on the 1st try grants 3 points, second 2 points and 3rd 1 point, failing obviously will be no points. Person with most points at end of all dives wins.
OR, people will jump from set heights, depending which pool they land in they got more points (harder equals more obviously) people will get 5 jumps or elimination on a 3rd fault.
I havent decided which would be better, what do you people think?
Sti_Jo_Lew wrote:Sooooo.... who wants me on their team? :?:
You can always start your own team
However if you are apart of the USSR i highly suggest you join us :D

EDIT: Changed Big Build (maybe). Into Small Build, moved marathon into the running category, added Team V Team event (all in), Events with the * next to them are events that may/can be included in the tri(or more) athelon event. Updated the OP to include; Location of event and possible help from XxGhostReconxX
Also re-asked Leprosyville, Solake and RSTP if they will be joining in on the games.
