The style of play in EscapeZ was largely inspired by DayZ in the sense of I'm striving hard for a desperation feel in the game. To begin, players will not be able to place or break blocks of any kind, not even torches. This is because the focus isn't on mining and building, but on exploring, surviving, and looting.
There have been dozens of chests placed around the world that contain a random amount of supplies that players will be able to find. The supplies contain items such as sticks, coal, iron ore, potion materials, food, weaponry, and armor. Basically all the necessary building blocks of crafting. Players are encouraged to gather these supplies and then set out and find crafting tables and smelters to get better gear to help them survive.
Don't worry if you find an empty chest. The contents will respawn with another set of random loot on a timed interval.
The point of this event is zombie killing. For every zombie a player kills, they will receive one point. The player who gets the most points by the end of the event will receive a free copy of
ARMA 2: CO (on Steam, $30 USD) so they will be able to join in on the fun on our DayZ server.
The only monsters in the game will be zombies and pig zombies and they will spawn at night but will not die in sunlight. The server is set to Hard so zombies will take some effort to kill and they will be able to break down doors.
Be careful though because while you get one point for every kill,
you lose 5% of your total score for every death. I should also mention that PvP will be enabled. You will not receive any points for killing other players, but you may turn the tides of a high score by hunting another player down.
Leaderboards will be actively available on the website during all times of the event.
We have enabled multiple spawn points around the map so that when a player dies they will respawn, at random, in one of these locations. This helps prevent spawn camping as well as keeping things more interesting.
