Looking at our front page, you may have noticed that our tutorial video is pretty much outdated.

Why are we telling you this? Well as a result, WE NEED YOU to create and post the best replacement videos you can on this thread! On July 13th the thread will be closed and the videos will be judged by our fine panel of video luminaries, with the winner getting a prize!

You will be provided with a script, its audio, and a version of the current Hub and Tutorial in the Creative world (accessible by a sign on the Hub's second floor) for you to film in.

Do not use elevator music or anything similarly psychosis-generating in your video.

SO GO MY FRIENDS! AND CRAFT THE GREATEST VIDEOS ESCAPECRAFT HAS EVER SEEN!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • All submissions must be posted in the thread either as a download or Youtube link before 13th July 2012.
  • No video can be more than 10 mins long.

Spoiler! :
Welcome to Escapecraft!

If you're viewing this new, improved, video (now with 100% less elevator music), you've probably successfully connected to our website, and are excited to begin playing in our multi-world online Minecraft server if you haven't already. This short presentation will serve as an introduction to the server and a supplement to our tutorial. When you first log on, the tutorial is exactly where you'll start.

The tutorial is short, but it's very important, as all of our new players need to learn some of Escapecraft's simple rules in order to get the best out of it (and avoid pain). In addition to some basics, the tutorial also hosts a few demonstrations of our various plugins and how to work them.

Throughout your journey into our worlds and the cities and settlements scattered about them, I recommend that you always read signs, as all of them (okay, well, most of them) have very useful information and guidelines that you would do well to follow.

So now that you’re here, travel onwards and read all of the signs, which will ask you to make simple choices. These choices will help you understand the basic rules of the server, such as the simple no greifing and no stealing rules, which you can read more about on our forums at escapecraft.net, in the Important Announcements and Rules section. Please also note that the only client-side modification we allow is a mini-map mod, as we wouldn’t want anyone to have an unfair advantage over other players.

Towards the middle of the tutorial, you will be able to see the very helpful Falsebook plug-in we use, which lets you create bridges, gates, doors, lifts, and even convenient minecart stations just by placing a sign with the correct name on the second line. Again, you can find more information on how to build these on our forum.

When you go through the User group room, be sure to pay close attention to the colours associated with certain members of the server, with the most important being the mentors, moderators, and other staff. Even though our friendly server wizards like wokka1 and Tulonsae are often online, they are very busy people, so talk to any players with the tag [Mentor], [Mod], or [OP] in front of their name if your problem is not one that only the technically-focused admins can solve. If nobody from these groups is online, you can also create a ticket. Again, you can learn about this plugin on our forum.

Once you’ve completed the tutorial, you will be taken to the server Hub. From here you will be able to access all of our worlds.

Whilst we host creative and PvP worlds, the vast majority of land on the server is on survival mode. This means that hostile mobs such as creepers, zombies and traffic inspectors are active. If you die, a deathchest will be generated to hold your items in, but only for a limited time. Please don't ask to be teleported back to your place of death—it happens to everyone, and moderators will not act as your "taxi service." All of this is part of the survival aspect to the server. Being overly persistent about this might even get you in trouble depending on the moderator's mood. I promise most of us are somewhat nice on certain days. Maybe.

Now, on to the worlds. If you're just starting out and ready to join a survival world, the guest city is likely the first place you should go. This city, located on the Western edge of the world Fyra, allows you to claim a space and build to your heart's content without fear of creepers or other players knocking down your hard work. It's only there to give you a foothold, though, so once you make it to veteran rank, you can move whatever you've built out to another spot in the worlds.

As I said, the guest city is located on the western edge of Fyra, which can be accessed via the light green path on the Hub's ground floor. Fyra was the fourth world Escapecraft opened, and is mostly made up of older generated terrain. However, the western edge is a more recent large expansion, and consists mostly of newer generated terrain, with ravines, mineshafts, and NPC villages. West Fyra's not the only place you can find this type of land, though.

Borjan is our latest and greatest survival world, and can be accessed via the light blue path on the Hub's ground floor, right next to Fyra. Borjan is made entirely of new land, and features a state-of-the-art public transportation system to easily bring you to the far corners of the map. This is our most populated world, but there's still plenty of land to build on.

Our other survival worlds are Future Shift and the Skylands. Future Shift is a land of floating islands and weird terrain, and resides at the end of the yellow path in the Hub. If you take the stairs to the upper floor of the Hub, you'll also find the Skylands tunnel. This world is currently open only to server donators. Hey, running this place isn't cheap! So we like to say.

You'll also find a portal to the Nether in the corner of the Hub. Be careful here—the immense volume of fire, lava, ghasts, pigmen, corporate holdings and mushroom infestations can prevent you from retrieving your items should you die, which is very easy to do in this hostile otherworld.

Now, on to the non-survival worlds. The library, which is down the pink path in the Hub, contains many examples and tutorials regarding redstone and our Falsebook plugin.

Next to the library, down the red path, is the Creative world. Anyone can enter, but you must be a veteran to build. We're not falling for that again. Here you can spawn blocks, fly around, and work on any project you can imagine.

Here in the corner is the portal to Enigma, our world for puzzles and games. Over by the cake you can find the famous Escapecraft single-player puzzles. In Enigma proper, you can try some of our homemade puzzles, mazes, and minigames.

And lastly, there's PvP, down the orange path. The PvP world is different from the survival and creative worlds—here, griefing, stealing, and the killing of other players is allowed and encouraged! Go here at your own risk.

As for the rest of the gates in the Hub, some are to museum worlds which no longer allow building (such as Genesis, Exitus, and Terra), or to worlds which are either unannounced or incomplete. The team likes to keep exciting new additions secret as long as possible.

One more thing you'll notice in the Hub, above the Borjan and Fyra gates, is the events billboard. Every week, Escapecraft hosts a different server-wide event such as the Big Build or a PvP tournament. The winners of these events receive fabulous prizes! The losers... well, we don't like to talk about what happens to them. Poor sods. Anyway, to learn more about our events, browse the forums!

When you’ve decided which world you would like to visit, just follow the path all the way to the end and you should be automatically transported to it. Thus concludes this summary of what Escapecraft has to offer. However, look around, explore - we haven't told you everything now.

So as a small recap, remember to read the signs, respect the rules and other players, and of course have fun. If you do all these things, you will be a great addition to our community.

See ya there!

the script is in a spoiler in the OP at the bottom under "Script" with the audio recording beside it.

DO NOT use your own voices. Lord provided you all with a voice clip for this purpose which again. is at the bottom of the OP.

any recording software will do.

Yes you will need to edit it yourself. that's part of the contest...

If you want to work as a team, I'm ok with that, you can split the royalty prize up as you see fit, the team needs to decide on a leader though, who will act as director and that person will decide who gets the royalty. As to the other prize, it depends on the quality of the work.

Where is said copy of the hub? I can't seem to find it.
Some people think in pictures, others think in words. I think in pictures with subtitles.

there should be a sign on the second floor of the hub that warps you to it.

Lord mentioned he was going to put up a redone version of the voice over to balance out the sound and fix the bits of fuzz. When's that gonna be put up?

Not sure, but it shouldn't affect you working on your video, the timing won't change nor the script, you will just need it for a final product, and really only the winner needs the clean audio :)

But all the same, I will attempt to shoot it out of the sky within the 5 day deadline.
