Do the buildings in this "to-be amazingfulawesomenessofcrazyfulardor city" HAVE to be like in the actual city in Oblivion? "By that I mean like Roman-style, with the pillars and whiteness?

As opposed to? Its a replica, not a huge city that has name Imperial on it.

Also in regards to the arena that is still being discused

I´m looking forward to the server is up again, but a little question, how much of the Imperial City are you going to make? the entire land mass around the Imperial City and lake Rumare? The Bridge over to the main land, the little town at the end of the bridge? I¨d like to know, got nothing better to talk about right? xD

I'm going to clarify once and for all what we're doing.
-All of the districts, including the Arcane University, the prison and garrsion, and the Waterfront (with the ships)
-All of the large iconic structures; Temple of the One, the Arboretum, the Arena
-All of the houses within the city walls and on the Waterfront
-White Gold Tower, with the Elder Council Chambers at the heart of the city
-Walkable battlements & watchtowers
-The shallow pools located at the base of the inner wall in each district
-Tiber Bridge
-There will be a lake, and a bit of the land mass around the city, but the exact details are still to be decided.

One of the reasons for why I haven't included the stables or inn outside the city is simply, 'what do we define as the Imperial City, and therefore, where do we stop?' One could argue that they should also be included. You could then argue that the road around the lake should also be built since it provides views of the city, until it snowballs into a reproduction of Cyrodiil. We're not going to do that.

Added to that are aesthetic concerns. The main gates will be just above bedrock. If you recall from the game, the city was located on a bit of a uphill slope when you enter, giving the gates a clear view when you're on Tiber Bridge. If we add the stables near there in our design, it'll ruin the view.

As for Wawnet Inn and the homestead, I probably won't be building that either. What I am building though, at that end, is the new quarters for our volunteers (it's at sea level). It's an expanded Priory of the Nine, so that it will accomodate (funnily enough) nine people. Black has already build minecart tracks near there, so anyone living at the Priory can get quick access to the warehouse. It's part of my rather nascent plan for a north-south highway.

Once Again its time for an update.

Much more work has commenced on the actual city instead of just digging, and it looks well. Green Emperor Way has commenced and shall come along nicely.
2011-02-19_23.38.45.png
Also The Elder Council Chamber has been started on and looks kickarse. This project is coming together and I really want to once again the users that have helped, every bit counts.
2011-02-20_00.00.02.png

We shall have this done, everyone that has helpedis coming together nicely on it. Please remember though, TNT is not advised to be used near the tower itself. Also, I was going to mention something but I forgot. Ill edit it in later.

Please dispose of all cobble in the fire.

And we have hit about 350 workplace accidents, read deaths. =D

Keep up the good work chaps. I present a motivational song.

were clearing the overhangs by the chamber at the moment. its slow work but when Blacks on the TNT makes everything go much faster (please use it carefully as damaging the tower or chamber will result in Black annihilating everything you love...)

in my defence its very slow and ive found no Diamonds yet. TNT makes it fun however! (but then EVERYTHING can be fixed by TNT and Lava!)

I'm not sure if this has already been brought up, but will it be possible to live in the Imperial City? I would imagine having to pay someone for a house, and not being able to change the exterior at all, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would gladly pay to live there.. or will it all be cuboided when it's done? D:

Hello folks, registered here just to post and say how impressive this project looks! I just wanted to ask...

1) How many folks do you have active on the project?
2) Are you looking for / accepting new people to the task? My works include Madison Square Garden which I crafted all by hand - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpqs_CYEmh0 As well as worked on a scale model of Minas Tirith in SMP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwchQItl15k

Minas Tirith was such an amazing experience because of all the people involved and how amazingly fun it was to collaborate with people on such a huge project. I get the same vibes from reading this thread.
