I'm pretty grateful Vallorn asked that. I died for the first time a day or two ago and haven't had the will to log back in and run all that way. Will ask when in game.

I've been creating some steps here and there to lead up to some overhangs. We're doing great on the Y 9 level for the ground, but there's still a lot of overhangs that need to be worked on.

I have a question. It's been pestering me since I noticed it just vanished. A while ago I uncovered what looked like some kind of in-ground hotel while mining at the IC site. What happened to it? I can't imagine it being in the actual Imperial City...

Also, when TnT is reimplemented in the server, will people who work on the project (obviously they will have to be trusted individuals) get access to TnT to speed up the clearing?

That was destroyed with extreme prejudice.

Once the bugs are sorted out, veteran players will be allowed to use TNT for land clearing.

BTW, if someone's gone to the trouble to turn lava into obsidian, is it there for the taking, or should it be assumed to be claimed?

Sometimes you can get natural obby from springs managing to cover some nearby lava lake

Does this mean that we'll have to gather our own materials for the tnt (as this is a survival server), or will it be provided for the sake of getting this project done in my lifetime? Also, if we do have to gather it ourselves, would anyone mind helping me build a mob trap of decent size (if there isn't one publicly available already).

the ones i know of are
Public:
Thundermans "Twin Towers of ugly" which have suffered a massive drop in output recently.

the Briarton Tower (so long as you dont touch the chests)

Private:

Herpmyderp and Mydrox's Flower Tower. near impossible to get to and one of the best looking buildings in Escapia AND it shoves out drops at a phenomenal rate *currently under renovation*

there are defiantly more but these are the ones ive visited.

Yeah, I did find some natural obsidian, but the one I saw yesterday was a lava pool I had previously uncovered, which someone had willfully obsidianified. I don't want to mine it without knowing it's okay to do so.

Me and Steelreefer are working on the west side of the IC tower.

:D It's turning out REALLY fun to work on IC. It's my new hobby :)

The payment method is brilliant and surely pushes people to work more. I don't do it for the diamonds, but for the fact you see the chests and you know we're giving it our best!

Any chance we could get an idea of how far out from the inner wall we need to clear? From what I've seen online, the next section out (with all the residential and trade districts etc) looks to be about twice as wide. If we had an idea of how far out to mine these walls down, it may help save us from wasting time from mining too far. I've noticed some mining really far out from the center on Y level 9, when I don't think the city stretches out nearly that far.

Hmm curious, why outward 450? Seems way overkill unless I'm missing something... are we including landscape around the City? From measuring the grass area between the outer wall that we have up, and the inner wall (the raised area before the council chamber) I measured 16 blocks. For reference I then took the map here at this location http://www.oblivionwalkthrough.com/w/m/ ... l_city.png . To get it to approximately the same scale to use grid for measuring, I shrunk it down to 16%. Based off that scaling, I measured that the city should by roughly 220 x 220 (rough estimation). I can understand clearing some area past that, but I feel like I'm missing something here.

We're including the lake around the city and the bridge. Your calculations also don't include the other 3 districts that we're building (Arcane University, Waterfront and Prison/Garrison).

Ahhh I see I was literally only thinking of the main city itself. I COMPLETELY forgot about those extra districts. It's obviously been too long since I've played Oblivion. Thanks!
