A New Continent Has Been Discovered

Post by SneakyPie » 16 Apr 2011, 12:19

The intrepid SS SneakyPie, the famous exploration ship captained by the famed SneakyPie, has returned from its journey into the horizon with news of a newly discovered continent, Fyra.

The SS SneakyPie will be be transporting eager explorers to the new docking station, The Spire. From there, explorers will be able to make the land their own with the use of the rail system which extends to the outer reaches of the Fyra.

So we can go back and forth between these places and keep the resources and build, no wipes or rollbacks?

Does this new continent feature different distributions of minerals than our current one? Is lapis prevalent, for instance? Moar diamond and gold??

Timing is still unknown.

The world was generated with either 1.3 or 1.4, can't remember, but nothing changed between those two with the algorithm that I know about. So, yes, LL will be prevalent throughout the entire map. The other materials do seem to have larger clusters than the alpha maps did.

Server is still down though?

And also, concerning this:
The other materials do seem to have larger clusters than the alpha maps did.
Spawn rates for all ores as well as flowers and mushrooms were upped significantly with the move to Beta.

I hope I'm not the only one a bit disheartened that, much like North America in the 16th century, Fyra immediately seems to be visited mainly to exploit its resources. I'm guilty of doing that to places like the Nether, but the mass and sudden acquisition of non-renewable resources by a select few in the normal world was a significant gripe in Version 3.

I might aim to start a settlement soon in Fyra.

Well would you rather a bunch of people got mats spread out or one person get them cause too many don't want to spoil the landscape? if we don't get them, others will. also this will lower teh general prices for things i think :L

In its conception, Fyra was not meant to be used for farming materials as there's plenty still on the main world.

It was meant to be a new location to explore and build upon as well as a few experiments with design etc.

Then you're admitting to spreading inane statements that simply aren't true.

Might be in your best interest to stop.

I wouldnt be adverse to making the shire a big settlement, though people will have to accept that there isnt a massive variation of house types :P considering there all buried in hills, well nearly allways.

It's unfortunate that the SS Sneaky faces AWAY from spawn, I din't notice Cookie Monsters face until I disembarked in Fyra and looked back at it. I lol'd.

Random1 Fact:: SS Sneaky Runs on Chocolate Cookies.
Random2 Fact:: NomNomNomNonNOm is the sound you would hear during Voyage on the SS Sneaky

Yay! I tried to get to Fyra yesterday. I had one of my 'friends' with me. He said that he wanted to grief the server. He got annoyed with the nobuild in spawn and left.
