Re: What are you reading?

I didn't enjoy Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? much, although I did read it a few years ago so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it went over my head though. He has a terrible, terrible writing style. I finished it today, and I know what you mean. I can't say I particularly enjoyed it, but i...

Yeah, I've read some from all of the series, and I think the Death series is my favourite. He's just such a great character.

Re: What are you reading?

So, would you recommend War and Peace, or did you give up on it? I ask because it's been in my "To Read Eventually, Maybe" list for a while now. Since Catch-22, I've read Murder on the Orient Express (I'm not a huge Agatha Christie fan, but I enjoyed it), Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett (I was avoidi...

Re: What are you reading?

Recently I've read The Cat's Table by Michael Ondaatje, Looking for Alaska by John Green, and have nearly finished Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. All of them are great books, though I was a tad disappointed by Looking for Alaska. I think it was hyped up too much. I still really enjoyed it though. I deci...

Not sure if you mean music released this year. If so, I'm obliged to put forward Biffy's newest album. I went to see them on their tour for it too. :D

Considering N isn't even that near L on a keyboard, this raises all sorts of questions.

On to Bram Stoker's Dracula now. I like the writing so far - the imagery is pretty nice.

Of course, it probably helps that everyone can imagine the setting pretty well already.

Well it's probably fine - just be sure you can prove without a shadow of a doubt that the account(s) posting the work are actually you. Plagiarism is a really big deal in universities and your degree could be thrown into jeopardy if they suspect you might have stolen the piece from somewhere. Person...

Re: What are you reading?

Card has some great books, and the Ender's series are some of them, but I didn't care for this one or the sequel after it. The shadow books are good too I'm told, I've only read the first one. The Seventh Son books are good as well. Just finished Speaker for the Dead, and you're right - it's not as...

Pretty self explanatory. Post your favourite movie scenes. Maybe it's an awesome moment, maybe it's great cinematography. In my case, it's usually the music that makes it. I never could understand that. If a movie is different to the book, and it bothers you for some reason, just continue watching as if it was a stand-alone film. Movies can stray from the story, and still be well-made.

Re: Civilians Owning Guns

I really wouldn't feel comfortable living in a place where civilians are allowed to carry guns. I don't even think most law enforcement should be allowed to (and they don't here). People are generally idiots, and not to be trusted. They're far too vulnerable to emotional and mental instability, and ...

-snip- Not sure MLP counts as anime. It's Western animation as far as I know. And I would have left too. MLP fans (the ones that aren't 8 year old girls) creep me out immensely. I also think the fact you have a designated lunch table to sit at is amusing. OT (as much as one can be in this thread): ...

I like the way everyone's like "Oh no, Disney's going to milk the franchise for money!" Because, you know, George Lucas totally never did that. I have seen The Emperor pelvic thrusting in a dancing game for god's sake. And like others have pointed out, Disney regularly churns out good stuff. Great s...

Re: Which is worse, hunger or sleep deprivation?

Well, sort of. I think there's only a short period of necessary ("deep" I guess) sleep in a night. The rest is for growth and repair. And yeah, sleep for me too. Though that doesn't tend to stop me from being up later than I can afford to. Hunger also tends to carry a slight sense of accomplishment ...
